Webfoot Gets Timur Tabi's Autograph

by Peter Skye

W
ARPSTOCK --- "I approached him from behind," a jubilant Webfoot told me as he carried his most prized possession, a magnificent scrawl from none other than Timur Tabi, off for safekeeping in his hotel room.  "He didn't have a chance to think when I pushed the pen into his hand and the sheet of paper in front of him.  I said 'We need your autograph, Timur,' and he probably thought I was part of the Warpstock Steering Committee!"  The story continued from there, but have you ever tried to understand the quacking of a gleeful duck?

Webfoot had been stalking Timur throughout the Warpstock '98 convention.  "I attended his Win32-OS/2 Project seminar, but he was always surrounded by curious OS/2 fans wanting to run their Windows 95 programs on the latest version of the converter.  And the next day I was at his OS/2 Device Driver lecture, but again was thwarted by all the programmers that mobbed him after he was done.  I finally caught up with him as he stood at the Theta Band Software booth, discussing Crystal Semiconductor sound chips with a group of multimedia gurus."

I ran into Timur later that afternoon.  "I see Webfoot got your autograph," I said.  "What did he give you?"

"This Webfoot t-shirt" said Timur, unfolding the shirt so I could see it.  "Eight colors, printed both front and back.  It's very, very nice."

"I think you got the better part of the deal!" I said.

"I think so too," replied Timur, "but what can you expect?  He's just a Duck."
