Same way you do the switching.  Assumming no typos on my part:  
 
  dhcpmon -t to ensure the daemon is shutdown  
  iptrace  
  dhcpstrt -i lan0 in a different window.

The issues are the same when you want to use both.

By definition a LAN connection is always alive.  PPP saves the originals  
and restores them when the connection is shut down because it is a  
temporary connection.  The Mr. KIA article mentions the RESOLV issues.
