I believe that your assumption is correct that you have to first attach the CD through   
RSJ.  
 
No, I don't use BA2K Server and RSJ. Early on I tried. Although the backup when with   
no apparent events, I could not restore from the resulting CD set. My backup required 2   
CD's. Just as the BA2K manual stated, I got a popup window stating that the first CD   
was full and that I need to insert the next CD. I did so and continued with the backup,   
supposedly to a successful completion. However, I could not get to first base upon   
trying to restore (a test restore). BA2K could not find the correct????/complete????   
backup information on either CD.  
 
From that point forward I proceeded to use my second hard drive to back up my   
system. That works. I never pursued the CD problem with CDS.
