OK Ralph you get the prize for the right answer.  It works by invoking the  
pencil tool, then the smudge tool.  
 
Next question:  Where the #$%! is this documented?  I'd print out some  
manual or FAQ if I could find it.  (Got the program gratis, so can't complain  
about the vendor.)
