The batch file I am using is exceedingly simple.  
 
CDCOMP.BAT   or   CDCOMP.CMD  
 
     XCOMP R:\* S:\ /MP >U:XCOMP.RPT  
 
This is based on comparing two CDs, with R: being my CD-reader, S:  
being the  
burner, and the report file (I must have overlooked the explicit "Log"  
option)  
being written to a Ramdrive I use mostly for temporary files or  
transitory workspace.  
There are variations on this, for other circumstances, such as  
comparisons against  
hard drive directories.  I mostly use it as .BAT, because I don't know  
Rexx, and  
never got comfortable with .CMD files.
