Backing up the Previous.dat file does not back up the sniffer. It's a  
backup of the Hardware Manager configuration. Therefore, restoring this  
file in it's original form restores your Hardware Manager configuration  
to the one you were using prior to changing it to Full Hardware  
Detection.
