To find the kernel level use bldlevel, as in:

  bldlevel \os2krnl

This will extract the build level signature. No all OS/2 files contain
this signature, but quite a few do.

You are licensed for everything up to the 10/21/2001 kernel at:

 ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/update-kernels

This kernel corrects some problems with the original FP15 kernel.

Anything never requires SWC or eCS if you want to stay legal.
