It was "big" news last month.  It's actually a UC patent and Eolas 
Technologies paid UC for exclusivie right to relicense or something like 
that.

That's wierd terminology.  Maybe someone made it up.  Unix supports links, 
both hard and symbolic, but this is totally unrelated to forking.  Maybe 
someone was confusing the terms?
