I found some T42s less than $800 including shipping from the USA east
coast to Los Angeles but to make a very long story short, the deal never
completed. Lessons - if a genuine legal bargain, buy now ask questions
later. By waiting the vendor reviewed his pricing structure and actually
increased his selling price. Not bait & switch. From this reliable
vender, I had bought that T42 R8U with 512 MB RAM for $850 with shipping;
an outstanding bargain.

Since the units at these extremely competitive prices had shorter
warranties, I wanted a reasonable price for my fellow SCOUGers to
compensate for the risk. Another day, another ThinkPad. :) Me and the
boys will keep our eyes open and buy if we find genuine bargains. No
brokerage fees of any sort. But the boys and I will request a $50
donation per ThinkPad to PetSmart Charities - not only do you help save a
cat or dog that is homeless but you get that tax deduction.

Johnny & Walker were homeless and almost went to the animal shelter but
moved in with me. Red Cat has a different tale.

Regards.
