SCOUG OS/2 For You - August 1997

MSR Development Returns
August 16th

OS/2 whiz and backup guru Gene Akins, of MSR Development, has agreed to an encore presentation to SCOUG. One of our most popular speakers, and from the company with one of the most popular backup solutions, BackMaster, Gene will be our presenter at our August 16 meeting.

Since their last presentation, MSR has released a new version of BackMaster and has also released a new Win-OS/2 application called ScreenSavr Master. Gene will show us these (and possibly a surprise or two), but he'll only be getting started. He will give SCOUG users the benefit of his tricks of the trade and tell us "How to get support when you *really* need it and can't." Gene will also share MSR's vision of cross-platform support to promote OS/2, and let us know why he's so excited about IBM's progress with OS/2. This should prove to be both an informative and entertaining presentation, and will be well worth your time.

Meanwhile, you can visit MSR Development's Web site at

http://www.msrdev.com

We'll have time for questions and answers after the presentation, and this is the time to ask for help with OS/2-related issues that are perplexing you. We'll no doubt have a raffle, too. Time for a short break, and then we're on to the SIG's:

General Interest - will have an interesting and cool topic that will tickle your enthusiasm for OS/2.

Networking - will look at REXX utilities to help manage the LAN Server domain.

Programming - will be doing a postmortem on the new raffle program and providing enhancements/changes based on suggestions made at the open house. The program source and executables can be downloaded from the programming SIG file download area on the SCOUG Web site.

Let's see, there's also the usual get together for lunch at the local Sizzler afterwards of all those that want to eat but also don't want to stop talking about OS/2. There's also the Internet SIG on the evening of Mon., Aug. 25 for those interested in the Web.
