SCOUG OS/2 For You - November 1996
November Meeting Topic
Nov 16th Is a Double Header
Does your system need a SofTouch?
Felix Cruz from SofTouch Systems, Inc, will be attending the November
meeting of SCOUG. He will be presenting the latest versions of UniMaint
and FileStar/2, along with the GammaTech Utilities and GammaTech IRC. The
applications from SofTouch are designed to help you maintain a happy and
healthy OS/2 system. Felix is the sales and marketing director for
SofTouch Systems, a manufacturer of OS/2 utilities since 1993.
Heads up: Gary Granat reviews UniMaint in this newsletter.
Will Photo>Graphics sharpen your image?
Photo>Graphics from TrueSpectra is a native OS/2 32-bit application
allowing you to easily combine bitmaps, text and drawings into
professional looking graphics. Using advanced editing and special effects
tools with a powerful object oriented user interface, Photo>Graphics
allows you to create images suitable for any purpose from webpage graphics
to billboard sized posters. Terry Hamilton will show us all this, and may
even preview the new PRO version that includes TWAIN scanner support,
OpenDoc components/containers, and a Scripting interface, for automating
operations with REXX or other languages.
And there's even more!
Following the presentations, you can get advice on OS/2-related problems
or concerns during the question and answer session. Then after a short
break, move on to one of the SIGS:
General Interest Group - gets to pick Felix's brain for reasons and ways
to use the various OS/2 utilities from SofTouch.
Network SIG - continues its focus on client-server by installing and using
Relish Net over LAN Distance.
Programming SIG - stays on the Java bandwagon. They'll pursue better ways
to program it, possibly with VisualAge for Java.
Come to lunch at Sizzler after the meeting if you want to socialize with
your OS/2 buddies. On Nov. 25th, if your interests are on the Web, check
out the Internet SIG at 7 PM.
