By the way, the upcoming Merlin release of OS/2 Warp isn't named after King Arthur's magician; a Merlin is a type of falcon, and all future releases of OS/2 will supposedly be named after birds of prey... Lotus Notes 4.1 includes additional support for OS/2 clients.... IBM is developing SOM 3.0 for OS/2 reports Information Week... Computer date to remember: January 1, 2000 is a Saturday. At least, most are. Check your date routines, since some don't calculate this correctly... PC Magazine shows how to write an OS/2 Multimedia CD Player using REXX (June 11 issue starting on p. 267, and July issue starting on p. 291)... For a review of OS/2 REXX tools, see the July PC Magazine pp. 263-72... IBM is making a test version of Web Express, a wireless Net access product, available on OS/2 running on ThinkPads... OS/2 Merlin will support TrueType fonts... Two- and four- processor servers can run OS/2 Warp Server beginning 3Q... Computerworld reports OS/2 Warp Server is making major inroads at large financial and insurance accounts... Warp Server's current competition is Novell's "Green River" Netware 4.11 and the slower Windows NT... IBM is developing Arabical, a product that allows OpenDoc parts and Java applets to work together, will ship next year... OS/2 Merlin will include Remote Support to aid customer support and help desk personnel...
