Open Watcom is a joint effort between SciTech Software, Sybase, and a select team of developers, which will bring the Sybase Watcom C/C++ and Fortran compiler products to the Open Source community

One can freely download Watcom C/C++ and Watcom Fortran, version 11.0c, for the following host operating systems:
    • OS/2
    • NT and Windows
    • DOS

Using these products, one can create 16 and 32 bit executable files, DLL's and/or device drivers for DOS, Windows and OS/2

To use the C/C++ products, you will have to:
    • Download and unzip the appropriate files
    • Update the CONFIG.SYS file. Alternatively, create a batch file to temporarily change Watcom-related environmental variables
    • Have 16 and 32 bit toolkit library functions installed on your system
    • Learn (or know) some C/C++ programming

The Watcom C/C++ installation will result in approximately 1400 new files on your system and consume a little over 24 MB of disk space (approximately 1500 files and 30 MB, if you also install the Fortran products)
